I caught a cold over the weekend. I hate being sick, and am a bit whiney when I am, but that is beside the point. I feel much better today; however my nose is stopped up and I can't smell a thing. Eating is NO FUN when you can't smell. Everything I have put in my mouth today has tasted like...air. I have felt like I've just rolled around texture in my mouth that tasted like...nothing at all. If I couldn't smell at all, I would be skinny as a rail. I would eat everything healthy because it would taste just like chocolate, pie, and cake!
I'm ready to smell again!

Today I am most thankful for my sense of smell

Toto, I've a feeling we're not in college anymore.
I was lucky enough to take a trip to the holy land this weekend. Yes, I went to see Auburn take on LSU, and it was a very full event filled weekend. It all started on Friday. I was able to get to town a little early so my sister and I were shopping around for me an orange Auburn sweatshirt. We were at the new J&M bookstore. If you've ever been there, you know traffic flows in 1 direction in that parking lot....well, as I was backing out (and I swear I looked) I backed into a van. It broke my taillight and dented her back end. I really think she was backing up in the wrong direction, but I have no way to prove it so....now I'm waiting on the quotes from her to see how much that's gonna cost me. Surprisingly, I wasn't upset. I think that I was excited that my brother found my sister and I tickets to the game! (More to come on that one)
After that ordeal, I took Thad to get a haircut and grocery shopping...oh the days when you were in college and poor. I was glad to get to help him out. After dinner, Celia, Thad, and I sat on his front porch chatting for a while. I was ready for bed at 10:00, but my brother told me that was too early to go to bed...so I gave in to peer pressure for the first time that night. His roommate and girlfriend showed up...and they talked me into staying up even later (peer pressure again). Celia peer pressured me one more time, and I ended up staying up until 2. That is so not me! I like to get in the bed at 10...so 2 was a big deal....and I was tired the next day because of...can you say I'm getting old!! I don't know how those college kids do that weekend in and weekend out.
We decided to go to campus around 2:30 on Saturday to see the gameday set up, go to the AU bookstore, and to visit a friend's tailgate. However, as we walked past the stadium, a line was already forming to get in the student gate. Since we had student tickets, we decided to get in line so we could get good seats. We stood in line for 1 1/2 hours waiting on the gate to open. I watched all these college kids interact as we stood in line. I sure thought I was cool when I was that age...now I know I wasn't. The gates opened at 4:15...the game didn't start until 6:45. If you've ever sat in the student section, you know you have to stand up the entire game. So after standing in line for 1 1/2 hours, we stood from 6:45 until at least 10 minus halftime. I did this ALL the time while I was in college...but my body didn't like it much this time. I will say I had a blast until the end of the game. It is loud and fun in the student section for sure, but I think next time I'd rather have a seat and not have to wait in line...
Obviously, I'm not in college or made for college anymore. I sure can't stay up late and I don't like to stand in the student line. I guess I've grown up...sad!
Here are a few pictures from the weekend. Enjoy!

We all know that Auburn lost. However, it will always be great to be an Auburn tiger!

Auburn 3, Mississippi State 2
What's that you ask? Was I watching a baseball game.....unfortunately no. This was the true score of my alma mater's football game tonight. I really don't know what to say after watching that besides a W in the win column is a W in the win column, no matter the score. Thank goodness that I was at a game watching party because it made the game bearable. I have some great friends....some hilarious friends. Like I said last time, I love how a football game brings us all together. I think that's what football is really all about! Here are a few pictures from tonight.
For those of you that know me, you know I'm not a cook! However, I bought a great mold and decided to make an Auburn cake for the party. I did have help from Daphne icing the cake, but overall, what do you think?
Kurt, the host, and his brother, Eric
Brian and Sanders - both were in rare comedic form tonight!
Daphne and baby Trey. Look at his awesome jersey!
Don and Beverly - These are Trey's parents.
This is a great picture...except for Landon...however, this is a normal face for Landon!
On a side note, Brad Lester was injured. Let's hope he's ok! We need all the talent we have next week for LSU...until then...WAR EAGLE!

Latest happenings
I must first say WAR EAGLE! I'm so happy that football season is back! I watched the Auburn game on Pay Per View and I know for sure that HDTV has spoiled me! However, it was good to watch the game. Auburn didn't look great, but at least we won. I think, or at least hope, we learned some lessons! (Don't you love how I use "we")
This past weekend and holiday was my turn to work. I will say that it went smoother than I thought it would, and for that I am thankful. I was able to get off in plenty of time to watch the game on Saturday, finish my cleaning on Sunday, and shop and then hang out with someone I hadn't seen in 6+ years on Monday. I sure hope they all go that way!
I also got to see a lot of my family over the weekend and today. My mom and sister stopped in to watch the game with me on Saturday. Then today, I went to Pell City to watch my cousin play as the starting quarterback for the 9th grade team. They lost, but I think he's a pretty good little player. He did score the only touchdown that his team scored! My aunts and other family were there. Everybody has a dysfunctional family, but I sure love mine! I think that sometimes, mine could appear on Jerry Springer, but then again, whose couldn't? Here are a couple of pictures of my sweet, cute cousin in action.
Sam, my cousin, is #10. Here he is running the ball.

Waiting on the snap
Look how big #79 is compared to my cousin and the other players!
After the game, I was able to spend a little time with my aunts at dinner. I always enjoy spending time with them! They have always been good to me! So here's to football and family...don't you love how football brings family and friends together! I sure do!

Thank you, Fay
I will try not to be all Pessy Bessy and will thank tropical storm Fay for some much needed rain...we certainly don't want to be in a drought anymore. However, she flooded the Verizon Wireless Music Center so they canceled the Martina McBride concert for Thursday (in which I had FREE 5th row tickets for)....ugh. I was told today that they won't be rescheduling it...oh well.
On another note, I hope Gustav stays away!!
For the final note, WAR EAGLE this weekend! Thank goodness football season is here!

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry at the Braves game
Celia, Thad, Josh (Thad's roommate), Daphne, and I went to see the Braves last night. We had a great time! We ate ballpark food, some drank, and we were all merry especially watching Thad, Josh, and sometimes Daphne. Here are a few pictures.

Happy Birthday to me!
I would first like to thank everyone for the birthday wishes today. Check out what my great best friend posted! Click here. Isn't she the greatest?
The real reason for this blog is to tell you all about the birthday present I've given myself. In February, I started getting serious about trying to pay off my debt. I read a lot of Dave Ramsey's stuff, and followed it somewhat. I also changed jobs so I didn't have to work so much. So....today, as a birthday present to myself, I paid off my credit card and my car!!! YAY!!!
I also need to edit my concert list. I will be going to see Celine Dion in January...got the tix as a bday gift! Aren't you excited for me!?!?
Thank you all again! I hope everyone had as good of a day as I did.
