I went skydiving....

As many of you know, I took a trip to Vegas to celebrate my birthday. It was a fun filled and packed trip, so I will have to break the experience up into multiple blogs. One of the first things I did when I got to Vegas was go skydiving. I wanted to jump out of plane on my actual birthday...and that I did! I'll tell the story through my pictures.

Here I am all suited up waiting my turn...I look pretty calm huh?

Mike, my instructor, walking me to the plane. This guy has jumped over 13,000 times!

Their brand new, perfectly good, airplane in which I would leap from!

Excited, yet VERY scared!

We were very high....can you see how far away the ground is?

Psyching myself up to jump

And we jumped!

I believe I can fly! ;)

This is how I really felt!

I must give a side story now. I easily get motion sick...you know, I can't read and ride in the car and I can't ride the rides at amusement parks without getting sick. I have no idea why I didn't think this would happen when I jumped. I read on a facebook status update from the day we jumped that the desert winds decided to visit the day we jumped...so, there was a lot of turning and spinning after the parachute opened so that we could get to our landing strip. This, of course, stirred up the motion sickness that I am prone to...and I puked, in a ziploc bag, in the air. I don't think that this is an uncommon thing because all the guys carry these bags in their pocket to protect themselves and the jumpers from what might happen. If you look closely in this next picture, you can see what the winds did to me!

Landing and still puking!

And it's over...don't I look good, especially since I was just sick, and happy. To take a quote from their facebook page, "At Skydive Las Vegas, you'll free fall at 120 MPH and then enjoy the quiet and peaceful views of Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, the Colorado River, the Las Vegas Strip and the entire Las Vegas Valley." Thanks Mike!

What a way to start the morning of my big birthday! After it was all over, I will say that the free fall is incredible....I don't know if we really hit 120 mph, but it sure felt like it...maybe the parachute part would have been better minus the desert wins...who knows, but one thing is for sure...it was a ONCE in a lifetime experience for me, and one check off the bucket list! Welcome to my next 30 years!

Oh yeah...thank goodness for ziploc bags!
